When I first arrived, I wasn’t sure what to expect. The staff, with their unwavering patience and understanding, were very positive from the first day, and I was pleasantly surprised by their approach to me. Due to my mental health and past behavioural issues, their patience and understanding were a beacon of hope.

The way the staff treat me is exceptional. There are times when I get angry/frustrated, which leads to me spitting at staff, racially/verbally abusing staff and making threats of violence. Despite my outbursts, they have shown great patience, calmed me down, and given me multiple chances, even though I know I would have been evicted in other places. I am truly grateful for their exceptional treatment.

I have learned a lot about myself and how to manage myself better. With consistent support, I have learned to keep my room tidy and maintain my hygiene by washing my hands after using the toilet and showering regularly. I have also learned to manage my anger and frustration better, and I now think about the consequences of my actions, whereas before, I didn’t care.

Fortix has helped me in many ways. They have guided, reassured, and supported me. They have also given me skills in managing day-to-day living, such as cooking, cleaning, and regulating my emotions. They have provided me with skills to manage my anger better. The team has been very consistent in their support, which has built a solid foundation of trust and helped me become a better version of myself.
