How do you feel about working with the Fortix team?
I really enjoy working with the team at Fortix; everyone is supportive of each other and is dedicated to improving the quality of life of those we support. Everyone was very welcoming when I joined Fortix, helping me to feel part of the team straight away.

In what ways does Fortix management support you?
Fortix management is extremely supportive of the team and is always there to answer any questions or give advice. I have learnt a lot since I joined Fortix with management support.

What has been your most memorable moment here so far?
My most memorable moment so far was seeing a group of residents returning from a Go-Karting trip; everyone was in high spirits, and it was great to see the residents had enjoyed themselves and really enjoyed spending time together having fun.

On tough days, what keeps you motivated and passionate?

Seeing the residents go from strength to strength and improving themselves with the support of the team keeps me going on tough days, as it shows that being dedicated to what we do makes a difference and improves lives.

What is the most challenging episode you’ve faced in this role?
The thing I have found most challenging has been reading about and understanding the background of some of the residents’ lives before being supported at Fortix; some of the residents have especially difficult backgrounds, where they haven’t received the support they needed, which can be very upsetting.

How do you support staff working with complex or high-risk residents?
My role is to complete support plans and risk assessments with the residents so that the team are fully aware of the levels of support residents need and how this can be achieved. I also review any levels of risk and identify ways in which these risks can be minimised through support from both Fortix and external professionals.

What makes Fortix stand out from other places you’ve worked?

The team – everyone shares the same passion to get things right and is dedicated to building good relationships with those we support.
